Ambulatory Practice
We are happy to provide services to all equine within the area, from children’s ponies to hunters or competition horses.
Our ambulatory service provides on-site veterinary care to racing yards and stud farms within a 30km radius of the practice. From Abbeyfeale and Listowel to Glenbeigh and Kilcummin we can come to your farm.
For studs, we offer a full range of reproductive services and foal care. We can advise on preventative programmes for diseases. Horses going to the sales or private vettings require a minimum of a lunge ring and concrete/roadway to trot the animal.
For racing yards we can offer a full range of services from upper respiratory tract scoping, lung washes and routine blood sampling to dynamic endoscopy for trainers on their own private gallops.
Lameness Investigation
We perform regular lameness investigations. These can be thoroughbred racehorses and sport horses to ponies and leisure horses. In some cases, diagnostic nerve blocks and/or joint blocks may be used to more accurately localise the site of lameness. We also use digital x-ray and digital ultrasound scanning equipment. The Vets Place in Castleisland has trot up areas, facilities for safely lunging horses on a firm and soft surface and stocks and examination areas with rubberised floors.
